Orthodontic treatment options can be divided into three categories. The first involves treatment during the time era of deciduous (baby) teeth to late-mixed dentition (baby teeth mixed with permanent teeth). The child at this stage has maximum available growth that can be manipulated through orthodontics. It is at this stage that we are able to abate habits, correct cross bites and deep bites, retract protruded teeth and improve ones' general facial appearance. The second category would involve treatment during the time era of latemixed dentition to early permanent dentition when the child is still growing. At this time there is substantial available growth that can be manipulated through treatment. Skeletal components can still be guided into a balanced relationship and the alignment of permanent teeth can be achieved. The last category would involve treatment during the era of permanent dentition when there is no available growth to manipulate because the child or adult is no longer growing. It is at this stage where full or limited treatment can be accomplished through orthodontics depending on the condition of the dentition. There may be situations where jaw discrepancies could require both surgical and orthodontical treatment combined to correct the dentition.

For many years, braces were your only option to correct tooth malocclusion. However, with the introduction of invisalign, there is a new way to straighten your teeth without braces. Whether or not you have had orthodontic treatment in the past and have experienced relapse since then or have never had orthodontic treatment, invisalign could be the right treatment for you!

Invisalign is a revolutionary advancement in aesthetic orthodontics. The process involves a series of thin, clear overlay polycarbonate appliances (aligners) custom- manufactured for you. These aligners are nearly undetectable thus making it very difficult for people to determine if you are wearing them. Since there are no wires and brackets, invisalign is comfortable. Because its removable, eating, brushing and flossing are no problem. Treatment time will vary depending on the amount of correction required.

Malocclusions are treated through a series of small, discrete movements dependent on the diagnosis and treatment plan. This new process is based on proprietary 3D computer graphics technology. Invisalign is ideal for mild to moderate crowding and space closure and can also be used for arch expansion, anterior/posterior (front to back) correction, and crossbite correction.

Treatment is easy. Patients wear an "invisible" aligner that they change every two weeks over the lengh of the treatment. Week by week, millimeter by millimeter your teeth gradually move until you've achieved the intended result of straighter teeth. This aligner would be worn at all times except when eating, drinking hot fluids and when brushing/flossing your teeth. It is ideal for adults who would otherwise never consider braces.
